A proven system for fishing success

DEVELOPING A PATTERN

This system can greatly increase your ability to understand bass behavior and establish a pattern that can work for you time and time again. An example of how to establish a pattern can be as simple as keeping a good log of your fishing trips and use the coding system as a reference point to indicate past success and to duplicate the same lure presentation. This system can be customized by the angler to track his own lure choices by simply using the coding legends at the bottom. An example would be in the same structure situation # 4 (as shown at the right) you use a FPE (Deep Crankbait, Crawfish Color, and Stop & Go Retrieve) you would record this information in your log book, and by recording all the fish that you catch you can refer to the log to find your most productive lure choices and structure situations.

SMALLMOUTHS SCHOOLING

By looking at the above example of recording your fishing trips you could develop a pattern by comparing the temperature ranges of "J" which is (70-65 degree water).  Then the structure # 12 which is (BANK, DEEP, LEDGE, and CLEAR WATER) and look on your map for GPS #8 that you recorded during a previous trip and you could go back to the same spot and be confident you are using the right lure and location to find fish. Then from that spot go to GPS #5 to search for feeding fish chasing schools of baitfish.

Looking at both structure situations you would use a QRG (LIPLESS CRANKBAIT, CHROME COLOR AND ERRATIC RETRIEVE).
